The Process and FAQs

A Partnership To Add More Meaning Into Your Life

When we partner together, you are working with somebody who really cares about you – your aspirations, gifts, and needs. Therefore, your experience will be 100% personalized. There are no ghost writers, no subcontractors. I will be there with you each step of the way during your career transition.
 

Our time working together will look like:

CONSULTATION PHASE
  • You request an initial 30-minute consultation. It will be virtual (post-Covid, if you are in the RDU area, I would love to grab a cup with you!).
  • At the initial consultation, we will talk about your career strategy and the process to get you where you want to go.
  • I will draft together your quote and contract. Once it is signed and payment is received, you sit back and relax while I get to work!
DRAFTING PHASE
  • My writing process has a maximum turnaround time of 7 business days. It’s a collaborative approach, and we will be in contact throughout this phase as needed. I will email you your drafts when complete.
REVISIONS PHASE
  • I offer 2 edited revision sessions to make sure you love your documents. This occurs within 14 days of the date that your first draft is ready.
FINALIZATION PHASE
  • I will email your ATS-friendly, keyword-rich, and personally branded copies in Word and PDF.

When you are sick, who do you ask for help? A doctor. When you want to get healthy, who do you see? A physical trainer. When you are sad or anxious, who do you talk to? A therapist. When you want to make one of the biggest changes of your life – a career change – why wouldn’t you also seek out a professional? Leaving matters into your own hands with your career, where you spend ⅓ of your life, averaging 90,000 hours, can leave you feeling stuck and defeated. Like your health and happiness, your career (which arguably impacts both) is worth investing in.

  1. There are many writers filling the market today, but not all of them know how to help you. To know your writer is legitimate, look at:
    1. Their certifications to prove their devotion to ongoing education and mastery of written language to create targeted, ATS-friendly marketing tools (examples: NCRW, CMRW, or CPRW).
    2. Their professional affiliations to prove that they stay on top of job search trends, continuous improvement, and professional networking (examples: the National Resume Writers Association or the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches).
    3. Their cost. Be wary of a company offering a 24-hour turnaround time for $100. You likely will have your resume farmed out to under-qualified writers.

I will get your first drafts to you within 7 business days. If you need a rush request and I have availability, I can return a project within 48 hours of a consultation with an additional fee.

Never, ever, will I use a template. Your documents will be 100% unique to you! It will be personally branded and customized to stand out at the very top of the pile. Gah! Nope. Never a template. Promise!

After our consultation, I will ask for two or three job descriptions that you would apply to. This way I can target your documents!

Because it’s so competitive for job searchers, resumes need to be targeted in order to get into the hiring manager’s ‘yes’ pile. I would be doing you a disservice if I wrote you a “generalized” resume! If you aren’t sure what to do next in your career, I am happy to refer you to trusted coaches that help you find clarity in your next steps.
